Our Top Tips Once You Book Your Boudoir Photoshoot

“Omg…I finally booked my dream boudoir photographer!!!!…but…now what?”

Don’t worry, bestie, I’ve gotchu! I absolutely understand that this is not only a physical investment but also an emotional one! I want to help ease as many nerves as I can before you even step foot inside of my studio. Confidence comes from preparation so this is a list of all the things I would do leading up to your boudoir photoshoot with me!

Guzzle. That. H2O. Like now.

Roll your eyes allllll you want, but the best thing you can start right now is drinking a fuck ton of water! Not only is this going to flush a ton of toxins out of your body, but your skin will start to clear up, it will be even and glowy for makeup application with our professional artistry team AND you won’t die of dehydration come session day because you’ve been chugging it since the day you booked. This small thing can make the world of a difference!

Skip the tanning bed and especially the spray tan.

Please don’t fight me but I promise that your natural skin complexion is so, so beautiful! Using a tanning bed not only destroys your skin and can make the application of makeup products trickier, but with the way I edit your skin tone may not come out how you expected (think oompa-loompa 🥲). I tend to edit a bit warmer, so I promise I will help you make you look your best from start to finish when you book with me! If you’re from Arizona like me, then you know that the sun here can be crazy and so can the tan lines. Does this constitute a hall pass for a bed or spray? NERP. I invest a ton in the sets within the studio and I don’t want any transfer happening. Maybe this will change if I find a tanning vendor I love, but for now, come in au natural and don’t worry too much about the tan lines because I can help you out with that!

Check out my Instagram for Inspo!

Want to shop around for ideas when it’s your turn in front of the camera? Then head to my instagram!! Feel free to screenshot or create a saved folder within the app and build a stockpile of inspo photos to bring the morning of. I absolutely LOVE seeing what your vibe is because it helps me curate the session to your needs! Even if they’re not my photos, show me! I can’t promise I’ll copy pasta them exactly, but we will for sure do our own rendition of what you liked about it and make it a custom pose just for you.

Speaking of posing, start stretching lightly every day.

Don’t be like me and skip this, trust me 🤣 I always regret not stretching prior to session day with you because even iiiiii start to get sore (and I’m not even doing the heavy lifting)! So please, if only one thing gets taken away from this, stretch for 10 minutes every day the second you book your photoshoot. Your back will thank you or else prepare to spend the next day popping tylenol and soaking in an epsom salt bath!

Start shopping now!

For me personally, finding what to wear is the most stressful thing about a boudoir session. Granted, you’ll have access to the Client Closet which has sizes ranging from XS-6X, BUT, I still highly suggest that you bring in a minimum of 3-4 pieces that you own just in case nothing in the Client Closet speaks to you. My absolute favorite place to shop online is Playful Promises because they are incredibly size inclusive (and plus size pieces are actually the same styles as the smaller sizes!), affordable but super high quality! They are usually running some pretty great sales too so definitely keep an eye out for that! I’d invite you to try a garter set as well as a bodysuit just so you can test out what you like best and what you feel most confident in!

Check your email.

I send a ton of prep your way when you book a boudoir session with me so make sure that you’re always checking and reading the emails that I send. It’s doing a really cute thing now of being sent to spam, so double check those folders and either add me as a contact or mark me as a safe sender so you don’t miss a thing!

Above all, know that you can’t mess it up!

Counting down the days to your photoshoot can be a time when a lot of nerves creep in. This is me reassuring you that in no way can you ever mess this up for yourself (or me)! Myself and my team are here to help support you along this process from start to finish so please never hesitate to reach out. We WANT to hear from you, especially if you’re feeling nervous! 99% of my. clients come in feeling like they won’t get the same results as the sessions I share online but guess what—you will. I promise, if you fully trust me and the process (that’s why you hired me to begin with, right?!), you will have photos that you will be completely obsessed with.
